single cam comedy pilot
In 2018, I produced, directed, and edited this single cam comedy pilot with my buddy Mike Aviles in memory of our late friend Greg Yates. Greg and Mike wrote this pilot, and after Greg passed, we decided we were still going to make it. E.R. stepped in to do Greg’s part as they spent a lot of time performing together. We launched a successful Indiegogo campaign for the funds and with a lot of people’s help, we were able to make this project come to life.
Yew Boys, a single-cam comedy, follows surfer siblings Mike & Gill as they work to get their beloved surf shack up on its feet, all while stumbling through the scanty Cocoa Beach dating scene. Oh, and they live with their mom. Written by Mike Aviles (iO Chicago) & the late Greg Yates (iO Chicago), directed by Stanley Sievers (Funny or Die, NYTVF).
This pilot features a stacked lineup of talent including E.R. Fightmaster (Grey’s Anatomy), Kimberly Michelle Vaughn (Second City/The Chi), Katie Kershaw (Ms Fletcher on HBO), Jeff Murdoch (Second City/Netflix), Ian Owens (Shrill on Hulu), Traycie McBee (iO Chicago), & Ross Magyar (Chicago Med).
